Global education has taken radical change after the recession of 2008.One will be surprised to find this but the education system has taken a huge expansion in the global as well as in the Indian economy. Well here again the best award goes to Information Technology for making a radical change in the segment. Online learning is gaining a firm foothold in universities around the world. The limitation of education is being removed and higher levels of education are on the path of growth from all angles of the society. From corporate to general students education through technology has taken a radical change. At the same time Social-networking tools are helping to build connections with alumni and support career service activities. E-marketing campaigns expand the reach and success of recruiting and fundraising efforts, and drive down the cost of direct-mail campaigns.
Cost of providing education has been brought down to negligible segment where one gets huge benefit from low cost education but with an high value of the same. And automated, self-service programmes reduce administrative requirements, streamline course registration and enhance academic life. Well driving down the cost of distance learning has been an boon for the global economy. But while come to find the same story in India I find the economy is far from achieving the desired goal from this segment. This is mainly due to the primitive old methods of education system still prevailing within the minds of the society. In my research I have found that online-collaboration tools, software that supports individually paced learning and learning-management systems are among the communications technologies most expected to improve academics over the next five years. Well In India we are still to see the revolution. Another main reason for not finding this segment to be vital is lack of seriousness in the online education value system. Well we Indian always value late and consider prices first.
In my recent research I found that while distance-education programmes continue to grow in number and to improve in quality, most survey participants see online courses as a supplement to face-to-face classes. The slowdown of the world economy especially in the US and Europe economy has spooked the demand of higher level of skill and qualification acquisition appetite. Unemployment and global free work force supply is an significant challenge between the various economies to maintain and improve the quality of education system. Now it’s being found that how not only to equip students with an adequate education in their field of study, but also to arm them with the skills and knowledge required to leverage technology effectively in the workplace. Even in India in a recent survey it has been found that Indian don’t have enough PHD holders. Well this is the prime reason why the University Grants Commission (UGC) has lifted the two -year-old ban on distance MPhil and PhD courses.
Technology has helped to bridge the gap of education system but we need to accept and implement the same into our minds and systems of the society. I have even found that there is a general perception that online education system is not of any worth compared to traditional methods of education system. Well unless we do experiment we cannot develop anything hence we need to get into the platform of online education. Global competition has already accepted the online education system and we need to adapt that into our system before we get late to enter and exist in the higher level of education system. In my next article I will come up with cost management application in online education system.
